LVI ENVIRONMENTAL DEPLOYS HUNDREDS OF TRAINED WORKERS TO AID HURRICANE CHARLEY RECOVERY IN FLORIDA
8/13/2004
TAMPA – LVI, one of the nation’s largest environmental services and restoration firms, has mobilized a work force of more than 500 trained workers to participate in the cleanup and recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricane Charley in Florida.
WHO: More than 500 LVI employees from LVI’s Tampa office, as well as company offices in Colorado, Maryland, North Carolina, New York, Pennsylvania and Texas have been deployed and are working out of LVI’s newly established command center near Fort Myers.
WHAT: The Company is working with public- and private-sector entities on large-scale projects to clean up debris, evaluate structural damage, remediate water damage and collect hazardous materials.
WHEN: Representatives of LVI were on the ground as the storm was moving through and have been meeting with government, business and healthcare officials to assess their needs. LVI is already involved in a major cleanup for a large central Florida school district. Once the cleanup and recovery are fully ramped up, property owners will need to turn their attention to mold.
WHY: To begin to restore normalcy to southwest and central Florida, enabling government agencies, healthcare facilities, schools and businesses to resume providing essential services to Florida residents and visitors.
HOW: LVI has moved aggressively to deploy a trained work force, equipment, building materials, administrative staff, and health and safety resources to the area. The ability to bring all of these components together is a result of LVI’s experience in responding to Tropical Storm Allison in Houston in 2001 and Supertyphoon Pongsona on Guam in 2002.
SPOKESPEOPLE: Available to talk about what the need is, what services LVI is providing, best practices for recovery, and the impending mold problem.
